Today, the area around Ammiq is designated as a Unesco place of special scientific interest known as the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, to include historic wetlands, forests and mountain trails.

Within the Biosphere, housed in a purpose built, eco-friendly structure is Tawlet Ammiq restaurant and Beit Ammiq guest house – part of the Souk El Tayeb network to promote and conserve Lebanese food and traditions.
